Join our 3‑day Hridaya SIlent Meditation retreat at Karuna Retreat Center, nestled in the mountains of Monchique, Algarve, Portugal.

 

This short retreat offers a gentle but powerful entry into silent meditation, Stillness, and the Spiritual Heart, making it ideal for beginners, those with a busy lifestyle, or anyone who wants to experience a silent retreat without committing to a longer stay. 

Over three days, we create a soft container of silence, guided meditations, Hridaya Hatha Yoga, and contemplative teachings inspired by the path of Yoga and Self‑Inquiry, as described by Sri Ramana Maharshi.. The retreat is designed to help you pause, slow down, and reconnect with an inner sense of presence that is often buried beneath daily distractions.

 

Whether this is your first silent retreat or a short reset in an ongoing practice, the 3‑day format gives you enough time to settle into Stillness without overwhelming your schedule.

Karuna Retreat Center provides a quiet and pure natural environment where the mountain air, forest views, and proximity to nature support the recognition of inner stillness. The retreat is suitable for all levels; no prior experience in meditation or yoga is required. On the 3‑day retreat, you will:

  • Learn and deepen the practice of Hridaya Meditation, a powerful method based on Self-Inquiry and the direct recognition of our essence. During the meditation sessions guidance is given on how to relate to thoughts and emotions, calming down the mind and opening the heart, to become available to deeper dimensions of our being.

  • Explore Hridaya Hatha Yoga as a gentle and meditative, traditional approach to Hatha Yoga, that supports the meditation practice.

  • Receive clear, experiential teachings on Self‑Inquiry and the Spiritual Heart as given by Sri Ramana Maharshi, pointing beyond concepts to direct recognition.

  • Learn practices to calm the mind and open to a new understanding on how peace and stillness can be recognized at each moment.

  • Explore beautiful and practical teachings about the openness of the Heart coming from different traditions (Indian, Sufi, Buddhist, Christian, etc.).

  • Enjoy vegetarian/vegan meals, and beautiful spaces in nature for rest and contemplation.
