Hridaya means "Heart" in Sanskrit. Hridaya meditation is a non-dual approach rooted in the Self-Inquiry teachings of Ramana Maharshi and the yogic tradition. It invites to a direct recognition of our True Nature, the Stillness, Love and Awareness that we are. In this view, the Heart is the seat of consciousness. It is the main practice of all our retreats.
Our Hridaya Silent Meditation Retreats offer a profound opportunity to step away from the noise of daily life and rest in the intimacy of the Heart. Each day includes guided silent meditation, Hridaya Hatha Yoga, spiritual teachings from non-dual traditions — centred around Ramana Maharshi and the teachings of the Heart — Q&A with the teachers, and free time for contemplation in nature.
Participants step away from distractions and enter a supportive environment to reconnect with their true nature. Silence deepens Self-awareness and creates space for reconnecting with the Heart, allowing profound inner transformation.
In a silent retreat we create together an environment of external silence for a few days, so that we can recognise the inner Silence that is always present and available. Participants are in noble silence throughout the retreat — no speaking or interacting with each other verbally, by touch, signs or writing. If you need support or have questions, you can always write a note to the retreat guide or a team member.
Yes. No prior meditation or yoga experience is needed. All that is required is a genuine longing for inner Silence and a connection with the Heart. Beginners are warmly welcome — all practices are guided step by step. Many first-timers describe the retreat as a powerful and transformative introduction to meditation and spiritual teachings. Those with previous experience will also find it a beautiful opportunity to deepen their practice and discover a heart-centred approach to meditation.
Our 3-day retreats are designed for beginners and they are also welcome to 10-day retreats and pilgrimages.
The 3-day retreat is a genuine introduction to the Silence of the Heart — enough time to feel a real shift and begin to experience the Hridaya practice. It is a good starting point for those who are new to silent retreats or who want to explore before committing to a longer format. The 5-day allows deeper immersion. As the days in silence continue, the mind settles and the teachings have more space to land. The 10-day is a complete journey into the Heart. There is time for more stable transformation, exploration of the full Hridaya teachings, and a depth of recognition that most participants describe as one of the most significant experiences of their lives. All formats are open to beginners. If you are unsure which to choose, feel free to contact us — we are happy to help you find the right fit.
A typical day begins early with silent sitting meditation, followed by a gentle Hridaya Hatha Yoga session. After breakfast, there are further meditation sessions, spiritual teachings and Q&A with the teacher. The afternoon includes free time for rest, walking in nature, or personal practice. The evening closes with meditation and teachings. Meals are vegetarian, prepared with care, and eaten in silence.
It’s natural to find silence, the meditation sessions or the retreat setting challenging at times. It is not about perfection all the time, but about us learning how to be able to be with what is, to embrace all dimensions of our current experience. For this, trusting the process and pure intention are essential.
If difficulties arise, we are there to support you in any way you need! 💕
