5 Day Hridaya Silent Meditation Retreat

Our 5‑day Hridaya Silent Meditation Retreat in Algarve offers a deeper immersion into meditation, Self‑Inquiry, and the lived experience of Stillness.

Held at Karuna Retreat Center in Monchique, this retreat is designed for those who want more time to settle, integrate, and move beyond the surface rhythms of the mind than what a weekend or 3‑day program can provide.

With five days of silence, guided meditation practice, Hridaya Hatha Yoga, and contemplative teachings, you are given the space to let go of habitual patterns and to listen more deeply to the silent presence within. The retreat is open to both beginners and experienced practitioners, and it is especially suitable for those who feel called to a longer, more sustained immersion in silence, but are not yet ready for a 10‑day commitment.

Karuna Retreat Center’s mountain setting, fresh spring water, simple lodging, and natural surroundings create an ideal environment for this kind of internal exploration. Over five days, the rhythm of the retreat—meditation, yoga, rest, and simple meals—invites you to slow down, let go of thoughts and habits, and enter a more spacious, open state of being.

FAQs about our 5-day Silent Meditation Retreats in Portugal

How is the 5-day retreat different from the 3-day?

The difference is not just time — it is depth. As the days pass, the mind has had enough time to genuinely quiet, and the practice begins to move from effort to ease. The 5-day allows you to go deeper into that space. You will also receive more teachings, explore different attitudes in meditation and have the chance yo sit longer meditation sessions.

Is the 5-day retreat suitable for complete beginners?

Yes. No prior experience is needed. The 5-day is slightly more intensive than the 3-day, but it is also more rewarding for that reason. The extended time in silence is what makes the Stillness more accessible — the mind settles more fully, which actually makes the practice easier, not harder.

Do I need to have done a 3-day retreat first?

No — the 5-day retreat is fully self-contained and welcomes first-time participants. That said, if you have done a 3-day and want to go deeper, the 5-day or the 10-day are natural next steps.

What makes 5 days the right length for integration?

Shorter retreats can feel like they end shortly afterthe depth becomes available. Five days gives the body and mind time to genuinely let go of habitual patterns, receive the teachings, and begin to stabilise the teachings and anchor yoursel in presence before returning to daily life.
